Dançar com PK (Portugal)
Dançar com Pk is a regular dance class program for people with Parkinson’s, their families, friends and care partners.
This innovative and pioneer project has been implemented in Lisbon, promoting and allowing people with Parkinson’s to develop their creativity, memory, social interaction, physical and emotional well-being throughout dancing.
Dançar com Pk is integrated in the International network of Dance for PD® using the methodology and experience of professionally-trained dancers and movement experts.
Every Saturday morning at 10:45 am, in the cloister of the old Convento S. Pedro Alcântara, in Lisbon downtown, a Dançar com Pk class takes place.
In a safe and comfortable environment, we welcome people with different ages, levels of mobility and/or dependency, promising they will leave with a large smile on their faces.
Dançar com Pk was founded in Lisbon in October 2014, in partnership with APDPk - Portuguese Parkinson Association and SCML - Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa. It received an Honorable Mention – Prémio BPI Séniores 2014, and has BIAL and FLAD – Fundação Luso-Americana para o Desenvolvimento, as sponsors for training activities. The project is starting its expansion to other parts of the country aiming to create a network with impact at national level.
